Campbell Farm has been producing beef since 1945 and lamb since 1960, and is owned by Jacques Campbell and family. Jacques’ parents started the farm in 1958, and the processing facility was built with valuable design input to meet the newly implemented meat inspection regulations. Many upgrades have been done to the original facility since that time that meet or exceed current inspection requirements.
The Campbell Farm operation raises its own animals for processing, and provides custom cut and wrap of beef and lamb for other producers in the area. They market their products to local businesses such as the café on Saturna Island, as well as many folks who come to the Island to use their vacation properties. They produce more lamb than beef, since it is easier to manage on the land and for the climate the Island. The Campbell Farm raises both grass-fed and grain-fed beef and the lambs are primarily grass-fed.
The processing facility provides some custom slaughter to friends and neighbours, and also provides custom slaughter services for lamb to producers from the Southern Gulf Islands.
